Developed for preventive, educational and artistic purposes, Functional Analysis of the Dancing Body (AFCMD) questions the gesture’s intention and the postural organization of the individual, in a defined context of action, by establishing an open dialogue with the movement’s imagery.
In the tradition of somatic techniques, AFCMD differs from them:
through the use of theoretical and practical observational data,
but also by emphasizing a reorganization of the kinesthetic experience.
It combines first person sensory-motor exploration and 3rd person observation with scientific knowledge related to movement.
AFCMD takes into account the functional and expressive dimensions of the subjective body to empower dancers with a more efficient and healthier movement organization.
